About Me
Hey! I’m Lana.
I’m Lana Lipe (she/they) and I provide online therapy to adults throughout Indiana who are navigating chronic illness, LGBTQIA2S+ identities, anxiety, grief, and life's challenges. I’m glad you found your way here!
My Approach
I believe therapy works best in an open, accepting environment where you feel empowered to make lasting changes. Together, we'll identify patterns, explore current behaviors, and create new coping strategies.
I take an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, integrative, and person-centered approach that's identity-affirming and honors the full complexity of your lived experience.
I view allyship as a verb, an action requiring constant learning and unlearning, not a static identity. This means regularly examining my own biases and privilege so I can show up fully for people impacted by systemic oppression.
My Experience
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW #34010641A) and Doctoral Candidate. I have run my own private practice since 2020 and have extensive training and experience in:
Gender dysphoria and LGBTQIA2S+ identities
Chronic illness and health-related trauma
Compassion fatigue and burnout
Anxiety and perfectionism
Grief and loss
Trauma-informed and equity-centered care
Beyond the Therapy Room
In addition to my work as a mental health professional, my work has been published in places like: Oprah Daily, LiveStrong, Newsweek, Care.com, Healthline, and The New Social Worker Magazine.
I have spoken at national conferences on topics like LGBTQIA2S+-inclusive care, as well as on the importance of hope when living with chronic health conditions. I have been featured as a recurrent guest mental health expert on James Fabin’s Chronic Kidney Disease Channel—Dadvice TV.
Education & Training
Master's Degree: University of Maryland School of Social Work, Baltimore, MD (2017)
Doctoral Studies: Doctor of Social Work (DSW) in Clinical Practice & Leadership, University of Tennessee-Knoxville (graduating May 2026)
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I’ve completed over 100 hours of supervised clinical work and continue ongoing education to stay current with evidence-based practices, ethics, and emerging research.
I also regularly meet with other qualified providers for case consultation to ensure the highest quality care. I have completed extensive, ongoing training on the LGBTQIA2S+ community, including a 12-week course with Yale University.
My Commitment to My Own Growth
I believe the best therapists have been on the other side of the chair. I continue to see my own therapist regularly. It helps me work through my challenges, show up better for you, and understand what makes therapy truly effective (and what doesn't).
